INDEPENDENCE OF TAJIKISTAN – THE ROUD TO SUCCESS OF THE TAJIK PEOPLE
Independence is the most sacred and precious blessing, a symbol of happiness and identity of the nation, patriotic honor and glory, a sign of stability and durability of the state.

On September 9, 1991 the Republic of Tajikistan officially declared state independence. The adoption of this important historical decision led to the emergence of a new state called Tajikistan on the political map of the world and its recognition as a full member of the world community by influential states and international organizations. In fact, this most important document gave the Tajiks freedom and sovereignty. Gave them the opportunity to restore the pillars of the national state after thousands of years.
Gaining state independence required the young state to create a new legal system, develop and adopt laws that meet international standards, determine the form of government and governance, create decent living conditions for the population and at the same time ensure human rights and freedoms. During the civil war, the state independence of Tajikistan was under threat. Third forces took all selfish measures to weaken the state independence. Despite all this, the Government and leadership of Tajikistan continuously pay close attention to the issue of ensuring the legal development of society. The experience of the Tajik peace has acquired both national and international significance. The peace and security achieved by Tajikistan have received high praise from politicians and leaders of influential world organizations.
The experience of the Tajik peace process has shown that other factors can influence the resolution of the conflict in different ways. Tajikistan’s position in ensuring peace and security in the region and the world can be clearly understood from the words and repeated statements of the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon. Today, we can say with satisfaction that thanks to state independence, all the necessary legal and organizational foundations have been created for the sustainable development of sovereign Tajikistan and the formation of national statehood.
One of the greatest and unique achievements of the first years of state sovereignty is the adoption of the Constitution. It should be noted that the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan was developed and adopted taking into account the best values of international law, the best practices of civilized countries, comparative legal analysis of the legal system of developed countries, statehood and national Tajik traditions and customs.
Achievements of Tajikistan over 33 years of independence of the state from global achievements can be highlighted as follows:
The leadership of Tajikistan managed to preserve statehood and territorial integrity.
The volume of agricultural production has increased. Tajikistan supplies agricultural products not only to the domestic market, but also to the markets of partner countries.
In Tajikistan, work has been carried out and continues to be carried out to improve the transport infrastructure in accordance with international standards: reconstruction and construction of railways and highways, bridges, tunnels. This contributes to the transformation of Tajikistan into a transit region.
Today, Tajikistan pursues an independent domestic and foreign policy, protects the national interests of the republic in the geopolitical arena. For example, the republic is an active participant in the international coalition to combat international terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
During the period of independence, the country’s population increased to 10.3 million people, that is the standard and quality of life of people have improved dramatically. It can be concluded that the role and outstanding merits of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the formation of the newest statehood, the revival of the national state, ensuring peace and unity, enhancing the image of Tajikistan in the international arena are indisputable. The Tajik people should honor the state independence of the country as a priceless gift. The idea of peace and national harmony, put forward by the President, found broad support from all nations and peoples living in our republic. All these achievements find a response in the soul of every worthy citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan and contribute to the fight against global threats.
