On the afternoon of April 15, 2026, following the Green Universities Rectors’ Summit held at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, the Central Asian Rectors’ Club convened.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Lutfiya Abdukholiqzoda, rectors of higher education institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as more than 100 university rectors and experts from Central Asian countries, who participated and delivered speeches.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, Professor Ubaidullo Sattor Asrorzoda. He warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and participants to the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, and particularly to the university. The Rector emphasized that organizing such high-level events creates favorable conditions for expanding inter-university cooperation, exchanging experiences, and implementing joint initiatives. He also noted that strengthening academic and scientific ties among higher education institutions of Central Asian countries is an important factor in the sustainable development of education and science.
Subsequently, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan and other guests addressed the audience, discussing key issues related to the development of inter-institutional cooperation, the exchange of experience in education and research, the implementation of modern technologies, the digitalization of education, and the transition to a “green” model of sustainable development. Participants also exchanged views on ways to strengthen regional integration and develop joint educational programs.
It was noted that such platforms play a significant role in strengthening academic relations, expanding international cooperation, and improving the quality of education across the region.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting of the Central Asian Rectors’ Club was held for the seventh time and that the Republic of Tajikistan hosted the event for the first time. This important occasion demonstrates the growing trust in and influence of the country’s higher education system at the regional level, while also creating favorable conditions for strengthening scientific and educational cooperation and developing international partnerships.
The event was organized within the framework of the International Forum “Cooperation for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Intelligent.” and is expected to contribute to the further development of scientific and educational cooperation throughout Central Asia.
