As part of the implementation of the instructions and guidance of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, aimed at transforming independent Tajikistan into a “Green” country, an important environmental initiative—the planting of “Friendship” trees—was held on April 15 of this year at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan within the framework of the Green Universities Rectors’ Summit.
The event was attended by rectors of member universities of the Green Universities network, representatives of academic circles, and researchers. Its purpose was to strengthen international cooperation and promote a culture of environmental protection.
By planting trees, the participants symbolized friendship, mutual understanding, and shared responsibility in protecting nature and promoting sustainable development. It was emphasized that such initiatives are of particular importance in the context of climate change and growing environmental challenges, and that they contribute to educating future generations in a spirit of respect for nature.
It was noted that the “Friendship” tree-planting initiative is one of the key components of the Summit’s program, creating favorable conditions for strengthening inter-university relations and implementing green development goals.
It is expected that such initiatives will continue in the future and contribute to environmental protection and the development of international cooperation.
