On April 16, 2026, an international conference entitled “Tourism as an Engine of Sustainable Development: National and International Experience” was held at the Kangurt Hotel in Dushanbe.
The event brought together representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, relevant ministries and agencies, as well as domestic and international experts and guests.
The main objective of the conference was to discuss the role of the tourism sector in ensuring sustainable development, to exchange best practices, and to strengthen international cooperation.
The Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan participated in the conference and delivered a speech, noting that tourism is one of the priority sectors of the national economy and can serve as an engine for economic growth, job creation, and the promotion of national culture and civilization on the international stage.
It was emphasized that in the context of globalization and the development of digital technologies, the use of innovative approaches in tourism management, the development of modern infrastructure, and the improvement of service quality are of key importance. At the same time, special attention was paid to the development of “green” tourism, the protection of natural resources, and their rational use as an important factor in ensuring sustainable development.
