Measures to Promote Tajik Science on the International Stage

On March 10, 2026, at the initiative of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, a seminar was held on improving the quality of scientific articles and aligning them with international standards, increasing the number of publications in prestigious journals, including those indexed in Scopus, and creating conditions for the participation of higher education institutions in global university rankings.

The main objective of the event was to enhance the quality of scientific research, develop international activities, strengthen the reputation of Tajik science on the global stage, and ensure the participation of the country’s higher education institutions in international rankings.

During the seminar, Dmitry Viktorovich Sultanov, Advisor to the international scientific publishing company Elsevier (Netherlands), delivered a presentation and first congratulated the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan on its registration in the international abstract and citation database Scopus as the first university in the Republic of Tajikistan to achieve this status.

In his speech, Mr. Sultanov also provided information about the Scopus international information and analytical database and its opportunities, the main criteria for participation in international rankings such as QS and Times Higher Education (THE), the procedures for indexing scientific journals in Scopus, and other issues related to publishing scientific articles in prestigious international journals and their significance.

Representatives of the university’s branches and structures in Dushanbe, Danghara, Khujand, and Levakant also participated in the seminar.

Based on the outcomes of the event, participants emphasized the importance of these issues for the development of science and education in the country, the strengthening of international scientific cooperation, and the improvement of the quality of research and academic activities.
