During the period of independence, bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation between the two friendly countries Tajikistan and Iran, fraternal and common-culture countries has been developing step by step and gradually expanding and developing. The experience of economic and trade cooperation between the two states is based on the fact that the nations have had various economic relations throughout their long history, and this is also based on the intercultural relations of the same-speaking peoples.
It must be noted that the history of economic thought shows that prominent Tajik and Persian scientists and researchers have positively evaluated their ideas and opinions on the development of economic relations between Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran based on accurate explanations and analyses, noting that the basis of economic relations between the states is their intercultural relations.
In economic terms, the basis of economic relations between Tajikistan and Iran is their institutional aspects. It is worth noting that the foundations of institutionalism, or in other words, institutional, reflect economic relations as a result of integration, or the combination of customs, habits, traditions and cultures of states. That is why Tajikistan and Iran should develop their economic relations in this direction based on the idea of institutionalization.
It must not be forgotten that the initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan his excellency Emomali Rahmon, are considered paramount in the formation and expansion of economic relations between two brothers countries with the same language and culture. Because the efforts of the President of the country have led to the fact that since 1992, economic indicators in various areas and sectors of the national economy of the two countries, such as the development of investments, financing, the development of trade and financial relations, the construction and commissioning of important hydropower facilities, etc. have been increasing significantly.
We all know that today (15.01.2025) the official visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, his Excellency Masoud Pizishkiyan and his delegation has stared in Tajikistan. During speeches between both presidents at the press conference, the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon has noted that within the framework of the dialogue between representatives of the private sector of the two countries, the parties signed 13 cooperation documents worth more than $ 450 million, which is another indication of the existence of broad opportunities for cooperation between our entrepreneurs and investors in these areas. At the same time, an important point that was voiced in the speech of the President of the country is that Tajikistan considers it necessary for the relevant institutions of the two countries to make greater efforts in the comprehensive implementation of the Long-term Program for Economic and Trade Cooperation until 2030.Therefore, in our opinion, priority and priority areas should be distinguished when making direct investments.
The hydropower sector occupies a special place within the framework of strategic cooperation. Because with the help and support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Sangtuda-2 Hydroelectric Power Plant and other energy facilities are being built. A special place in the context of expanding economic relations should also be occupied by the construction of other power plants, especially the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant.
Within the framework of the high-level meetings and negotiations between Tajikistan and Iran, which took time on January 16, 2025, it was noted that currently 160 companies with Iranian capital are operating in Tajikistan, and in 2024 the volume of goods and services increased by 3.2 times compared to two years ago. In this regard, it is worth noting that a share of the capital investment falls precisely on the hydropower sector.
It should be remembered that the Republic of Tajikistan, and in particular the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, are recognized in the international arena as the initiator of water and climate issues.
In the implementation of the hydropower policy of the President of the country, a special place is occupied by the construction and commissioning of hydroelectric power plants, and this is also a source of pride and honor for every citizen of our beloved country. In this regard, it is important to note that the Rogun HPS, which is considered the bright future of the country, nowadays President his excellency Emomali Rahmon creating best platform for attraction of foreign investment from our Iranian brother, Hope it will be possible to put investments into operation within the established period time .
