AMERICAN PROFESSOR TEACHES AT THE TAJIK INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF TOURISM AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In line with the directives and instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, delivered during his address on the Day of Knowledge and the Lesson of Peace on August 30, 2025, and in accordance with the implementation of the State Standard of Higher Professional Education for higher education institutions with international status in the Republic of Tajikistan, the Administration of the Tajik International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship has been paying particular attention to attracting foreign educators.

It is with great pleasure that at the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year, the university proudly welcomes Professor Susan Slocum from George Mason University (Virginia, USA) through the Fulbright Program. Professor Slocum is a renowned expert in the fields of international education, tourism, and sustainable development.

On October 3, 2025, the Rector of the University, Mr. Ubaidullo Asrorzoda, met with Professor Slocum to discuss academic and scientific cooperation between the Tajik International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship and George Mason University. Both parties expressed confidence that such visits, facilitated through the Fulbright Program, will create a solid foundation for continued collaboration, the exchange of advanced practices, and the implementation of modern methods of teaching and research.

In her remarks, Professor Susan Slocum emphasized that Tajikistan possesses great potential in tourism and unique cultural heritage, and that integrating academic knowledge with international experience can play a significant role in promoting sustainable tourism and entrepreneurship. She also expressed her readiness to conduct seminars, develop joint academic programs, and support the exchange of faculty and students.

As part of the academic exchange program, Professor Slocum will deliver a series of lectures and practical sessions for university students, sharing American best practices, innovative teaching methods, and modern approaches to developing entrepreneurial thinking in the field of tourism.

This initiative marks another important step toward strengthening international cooperation, enhancing the quality of education, and raising the university’s global reputation.
