Today, on May 16, in accordance with the action plan of the administration of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, an educational and cultural event entitled “Youth – the Creative Force and Driving Power of the Present and Future of the State” was organized and held at the University to mark the Youth Day of Tajikistan.
The event was attended by Suraj Chorshanzoda, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan; Yusuf Ghafforzoda, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of Firdavsi District of Dushanbe; representatives of the Youth and Sports Department of Dushanbe; vice-rectors of the University; as well as faculty members and students.
The event was opened by Fathullo Amrievich Jabborov, Vice-Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, who welcomed the guests on behalf of the University administration. He noted that every year Youth Day is celebrated in an atmosphere of peace, friendship, and love for the Motherland through various sporting, cultural, scientific, and political activities.
Continuing his speech, the Vice-Rector emphasized that it is a source of pride that young people constitute the majority of the country’s population and that attention to this segment of society has been a priority since the first days of independence. Indeed, reliance on youth and their potential is evident in many countries because young people, through their physical and intellectual strength, play a significant role in ensuring social stability. He stated that today’s fortunate youth actively participate in all sectors of national life, achieving remarkable successes and contributing to enhancing the prestige and status of independent Tajikistan.
Taking all this into account, the Government of the country, under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon, has created all the necessary conditions for raising a patriotic and future-oriented generation. The President has placed state youth policy at the center of his agenda and consistently demonstrates attention to the younger generation. In response to this care and support, students and young people should master modern professions and foreign languages and contribute their knowledge and skills to the comprehensive development of independent Tajikistan.
Following this, Suraj Chorshanzoda, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, delivered a congratulatory speech. On behalf of the Committee’s leadership, he extended congratulations to all students, faculty members, and participants on the occasion of Youth Day.
It was noted that every year on May 23, one of the most important celebrations of the independence era—Youth Day—is observed in Tajikistan with great solemnity. According to analyses by international organizations, Tajikistan is among the countries with a predominantly young population, with an average age of 22.5 years. Furthermore, statistical data indicate that more than 70 percent of the country’s population is under the age of 35, which is why Tajikistan is considered a country of youth.
It was also emphasized that since the early years of independence, the Government has continuously implemented measures aimed at realizing state youth policy, recognizing the important role of young people in building a democratic and law-based state. The annual celebration of Youth Day is clear evidence of the state’s attention and care for youth as a constructive force in the country. Over the 35 years of independence, the Government has implemented specific initiatives to address youth-related issues, strengthen their participation in society, ensure their active involvement in political, economic, and social life, foster patriotism, and strengthen national identity among the younger generation.
The speakers stressed that today young people play an invaluable role in addressing vital issues, including strengthening statehood, ensuring sustainable economic development, constructing roads, tunnels, bridges, power plants, and social infrastructure, and contributing to the overall progress and prosperity of the country. Comprehensive opportunities have been created for youth development, including quality education, sports, and healthy lifestyles. Young people continue to receive special attention from the President and the Government.
During another part of the event, representatives of the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports presented certificates of appreciation to several master’s students and university students in recognition of their active participation in the country’s sporting, cultural, scientific, and political activities.
The event concluded with an entertaining cultural program organized by the University’s Cultural Department, featuring beautiful songs and dances for the enjoyment of guests and participants.
