On April 17, 2026, an international tourism sports competition featuring cycling distance races and hiking events was held at the State Institution “Navruzgohi Poytakht” as part of the International Forum “Cooperation for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart.” The event brought together a large number of athletes and guests from both foreign countries and Tajikistan.
The competition was attended by officials of the Tourism Sports Federation, representatives of the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Executive Authority of the City of Dushanbe, international judges, and athletes from various countries.
The main objectives of the competition were to promote a healthy lifestyle, develop tourism sports, strengthen international cooperation, and showcase the tourism potential of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the official opening ceremony, it was emphasized that tourism sports, as one of the important components of sustainable development, can play a key role in promoting natural attractions and attracting international tourists. It was also noted that such competitions contribute to improving athletes’ professional skills and strengthening friendship and cooperation among nations.
The competition was conducted in two main disciplines: cycling distance races and hiking. Participants tested their abilities over designated routes and under specific sporting conditions. Athletes’ performances were evaluated by an international panel of judges, and the winners were awarded diplomas, medals, and commemorative gifts.
It is worth noting that hosting international-level events of this kind in Dushanbe contributes to strengthening Tajikistan’s reputation as a country with significant tourism and sports potential, while also creating favorable conditions for the further development of these sectors.
