KHUJAND – A HUB FOR SCIENTIFIC DISCUSSIONS ON THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL TOURISM

At the initiative of the administration of the Khujand International Institute of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, an international scientific and practical conference entitled “Environmental and Economic Aspects of Sustainable Development of International Tourism in the Context of Digitalization” was held at the “Sughdiyon” Palace of Culture with the participation of domestic and international scholars, researchers, and experts.

This high-level event was organized within the framework of the International Forum “Cooperation for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart.” and was aimed at expanding scientific cooperation and enhancing the intellectual potential of the tourism sector.

The conference was officially opened by the Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, Professor Ubaydullo Asrorzoda, who warmly welcomed the participants.

It was noted that in today’s world, characterized by rapid digitalization and growing environmental challenges, the sustainable development of tourism has become one of the priority directions of economic policy.

During the conference, scholars, researchers, and experts discussed key issues related to the sector and exchanged views on current trends and future prospects.

Participants emphasized that under the wise leadership and policies of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, tourism has been recognized as an important sector of the national economy, and concrete measures are being implemented to attract investment and develop tourism infrastructure.

International experience demonstrates that the effective development of tourism is impossible without the implementation of digital technologies and adherence to environmental standards.

Conference participants also stressed that the adoption of “green tourism” standards and the expansion of international cooperation are key factors in ensuring sustainable development within the tourism industry.
