MEETING OF THE UNIVERSITY RECTOR WITH THE RECTOR OF THE UNITED NATIONS UNIVERSITY AND UNITED NATIONS UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL

On May 25, 2026, the Rector of the State Institution “International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan,” Professor Ubaydullo Sattor Asrorzoda, held a productive high-level meeting with the Rector of the United Nations University and United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Professor Tshilidzi Marwala.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to strengthening international cooperation in the fields of higher education, science and innovation, digital economy development, artificial intelligence, green economy, water diplomacy, climate change, and the training of competitive specialists.

In particular, they considered the establishment of joint educational programs, academic exchanges of faculty members and graduate students, implementation of joint scientific research projects, organization of international forums and conferences, as well as the development of training courses and professional development programs in the areas of sustainable development, water resource management, artificial intelligence, and innovative entrepreneurship.

The parties also paid special attention to cooperation in establishing research centers, strengthening the scientific potential of young researchers, involving international experts in the educational process, and implementing joint international projects with the participation of United Nations structures.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, as one of the active institutions promoting the internationalization of higher education and the implementation of the Republic of Tajikistan’s global initiatives, is ready to elevate cooperation with relevant United Nations bodies, including the United Nations University, to a new level.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to expand long-term cooperation, implement joint projects, and contribute to the development of modern education, science, and innovation at the international level.
