On May 26, 2026, the Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, Professor Ubaydullo Sattor, received Mr. David Fernandez, a representative of the United Nations University for Peace.
At the beginning of the meeting, Rector Professor Ubaydullo Asrorzoda, on behalf of the university’s faculty members and students, expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of the United Nations University for Peace for honoring the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, with the University for Peace Award and Certificate of Recognition.
It was emphasized that this prestigious award represents international recognition of the outstanding contributions of the Leader of the Nation toward peacebuilding, ensuring regional stability, and promoting global initiatives related to water and climate issues.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening international cooperation in the fields of higher education, science and innovation, promotion of a culture of peace, sustainable development, conflict resolution, and the training of competitive professionals with a global outlook.
In particular, discussions focused on cooperation in master’s and doctoral (PhD) programs in the fields of international law, peace and security, conflict management, and sustainable tourism. The parties also exchanged views on establishing academic exchange programs for faculty members and graduate students to study advanced international practices.
Furthermore, the organization of international forums and conferences, as well as specialized training courses and workshops in modern diplomacy and sustainable development, was identified as one of the key areas of cooperation.
The parties also paid special attention to strengthening the scientific potential of young people, involving international experts from the United Nations University for Peace in the educational process, and implementing joint research projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to sign a cooperation agreement, implement joint projects, and contribute to the development of modern education, science, and innovation at the international level.
