GENERAL INFORMATION AND DETAILS

The Department of Economic Geography and Ecology was created on the basis of the Department of Tourism, Recreation and Hospitality Affairs on the basis of the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Tourism, Entrepreneurship and Service “On changes and additions to the management structure of the institute” dated April 30, 2021, with the protocol No. 11.7.

The department is considered one of the fundamental departments of the University and trains students in 3 specialties: 1-310201-0203 – Geography, tourism and tourist management, 1-0204-0503 – Geography. Economics, 1-03020109 – preparation of geography and tourism.

The main goal of the department is to train highly qualified personnel according to the educational program of training specialists in the field of economic geography, tourism geography and tourism management.

Currently, 29 teachers have been working at the department, including 1 doctor of science, professor, 14 candidates of science (8 part-time workers), 8 senior teachers and 6 assistants.

The Department’s scientific potential is an indicators of high level preparation of competitive specialists in the labor market. The scientific potential of the department is 51.7%.

The department of economic geography and ecology functions as a structural subdivision of the university as part of the humanitarian and pedagogical faculty. The teachers of the department strive for arming students of the pedagogical-economic direction with a scientific outlook, to educate them in the spirit of national self-awareness and feelings of patriotism.

Education of students in this spirit is very important for the future progress of society and state affairs. The main task of the teachers of the department is, first of all, to prepare the necessary future and society of individuals and worthy specialists in the ecological and geographical field of Tajikistan. After all, the correct and rational use of the country’s natural resources depends on the training of specialists with a high level of ecological education and ecological-geographical knowledge.

Therefore, in order to achieve the goals set in the field of education, science and innovation, the department carries out research and educational work in accordance with the orders, decrees, instructions and words of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – the National Leader, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, the provisions of the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan, the relevant resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and other valid legal acts, the resolutions of the Council of the Ministry of Education and Science, the orders of the Minister of Education and Science, The resolutions of the Scientific Council of the University strive to implement the main directions of state policy in the field of education and science and achieve significant results.

Today, along with teaching and education, scientific work is also an integral part of the activities of the department’s teachers, requiring them to study, conduct fruitful scientific work, and educate the younger generation.

The scientific research and innovation activity of the department is based on the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 and the University Development Strategy for 2023-2028.

The research work of the department is focused on the given topic – “Economic-geographical aspects of the development of industries of the Republic of Tajikistan in new economic conditions”.

The student research club “Young geoecologist” operates in the department. In the research club, students present prepared reports on the planned topic.
