A HEALTHY FAMILY IS THE FOUNDATION OF A STABLE STATE AND SOCIETY

Today, on May 15, in accordance with the activity plan of the administration of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, an educational and awareness-raising event entitled “A Healthy Family is the Foundation of a Stable State and Society” was held to mark the International Day of Families.

The event was opened by Gulnisso Zaripova, Chairperson of the University Council for Work with Women and Girls. She noted that in the culture of the ancient Tajik people, the family is recognized as a sacred institution, as the finest human values—such as love and loyalty, sincerity and faithfulness, mutual understanding, and tolerance—are formed within the family. It was also emphasized that the International Day of Families is celebrated worldwide every year on May 15. The observance was proclaimed in 1994 by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.

Next, Ruqiya Atoevna Qurbonova, a veteran worker of the Republic of Tajikistan and advisor to the University’s Educational Administration, delivered a speech. She stated that the family is a small state with its own laws and rules. If children are raised in a spirit of patriotism and national self-awareness within the family, they will serve their people and homeland faithfully. She cited the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, who stated in one of his speeches: “Within the framework of the Constitution, the State guarantees social protection of the population, including the protection of families, orphaned and disabled children, as well as citizens’ education and healthcare, and protects the family as the foundation of society.”

During the event, Dilnoza Azimzoda, Head of the Women’s Affairs Department of the Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan in Firdavsi District, spoke about family values, the importance of education for women and girls, the prevention of early marriages, children’s rights, and the responsibility of parents in educating and raising their children. She emphasized that it is thanks to healthy families that the state becomes stronger and develops, while the welfare of the people improves.

Mahina Ilchibekova, Associate Professor of the University’s Department of History and Philosophy, also addressed the audience. She noted that human life begins in the family, where people learn love, respect, joy, and kindness. The family also teaches communication and interaction with the outside world, while traditions are learned and passed down from generation to generation within it. Therefore, the family is regarded as a sacred institution in Tajik culture. It is through the family that the state grows stronger and develops, and the well-being of the people improves. She further noted that throughout history, the progress of a country has often been assessed based on the condition of families in society and society’s attitude toward them.

During the event, three exemplary university families were awarded certificates of appreciation and commemorative gifts from the University administration in honor of the International Day of Families.

At the conclusion of the event, the University’s Cultural Department presented a cultural program featuring delightful songs and dances to entertain the guests and participants.
