On May 29, 2026, a virtual meeting was held between representatives of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan (IUTET) and officials responsible for the implementation of the global ranking of sustainable universities (UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings) from the University of Indonesia.
The meeting was opened with welcoming remarks by the Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Development and Green Economy, Professor Farhod Sharofzoda, and the Head of UI GreenMetric, Dr. Vishnu Juwono, who emphasized the key importance of university participation in the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings as an essential tool for evaluating and promoting sustainable development in higher education institutions.
During the session, Professor Zulfiya Qurbonzoda, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Quality Management, spoke about the prospects of IUTET’s participation in the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings 2026. Special attention was given to the university’s main areas of involvement in the ranking, including the development of sustainable university infrastructure, rational use of natural and energy resources, implementation of environmental responsibility principles, improvement of waste management systems, development of green transport, as well as strengthening educational and research activities in the field of sustainable development.
Particular emphasis was also placed on the new criterion “Governance and Digitalization,” which provides additional opportunities for improving institutional governance, advancing digital transformation, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the university’s operations.
The key aspects of participation in the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings 2026 were presented by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, Head of UI GreenMetric; Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, Deputy Head of UI GreenMetric; and Dr. Chandra Wulandari, Coordinator of Information and Partnership Programs at UI GreenMetric.
It should be noted that in 2025, the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan became the first higher education institution in the country to participate in this ranking. Additionally, within the framework of the international forum “Cooperation for Sustainable Development: Green. Digital. Smart,” held on April 15 in Dushanbe in cooperation with the University of Indonesia, the International Summit of Rectors of Sustainable Universities was organized.
The International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan continues to strengthen its position in the field of sustainable development and actively supports international initiatives aimed at creating an ecological, sustainable, and innovative educational environment.
