On May 28, 2026, the Rector of the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan, Professor Ubaydullo Sattor, received Dr. Musonda Mumba, Secretary General of the Ramsar Convention.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector welcomed the distinguished guest to the university and expressed his appreciation for the Ramsar Convention’s continued attention to environmental protection, water resources, vulnerable ecosystems, and sustainable development.
It was emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan, under the wise leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, is today recognized internationally as a leading initiator of global water and climate issues and continues to expand international cooperation in environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources.
During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening international cooperation in the fields of aquatic ecosystem conservation, ecological and sustainable tourism development, climate change, water diplomacy, green economy development, and raising environmental awareness among young people.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of joint scientific and research projects focused on the study and protection of environmentally significant areas, the development of educational courses and training programs in sustainable natural resource management, ecology, and sustainable development, as well as the preparation of highly qualified specialists in ecological tourism and environmental management.
The parties also exchanged views on organizing international forums, conferences, summer schools, and joint training programs involving international experts in the areas of wetland conservation, climate change adaptation, and the use of modern technologies for environmental monitoring.
During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on strengthening the scientific capacity of young people, engaging students and young researchers in international environmental projects, and enhancing cooperation between the university and international environmental organizations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and implement joint initiatives in the fields of sustainable development, environmental protection, and international education.
