PRACTICAL TRAINING SESSIONS ON“MODERN APPROACHES IN TOURISM EDUCATION”WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS

On May 13, 2026, practical training sessions entitled “Modern Approaches in Tourism Education” were launched at the University with the support of the administration and the initiative of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The program is intended for teachers and students of higher education institutions in Tajikistan, as well as employees of tourism-related enterprises.

The opening ceremony was attended by university leadership, Acting Rector of the Tourism Academy F.S. Qodirzoda, Director of the KOICA Office in Tajikistan Mr. Kang Seung Hong (Ismail), Deputy Director of TIKA Ms. Oksana Joshkon, KOICA representative Professor Park Dong-su, and other representatives of TIKA.

In his opening remarks, Acting Rector F.S. Qodirzoda warmly welcomed the guests on behalf of the university administration, especially on behalf of the University Rector, Professor Ubaydullo Asrorzoda. He noted that the implementation of such a training program with the participation of international partners is a significant and valuable event for the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan.

He emphasized that the development of the tourism sector today depends not only on the availability of natural, historical, and cultural resources, but also on qualified personnel, innovative educators, competitive specialists, and a modern tourism education system.

It is a matter of pride that instructors and experts from the Republic of Turkey have come to the University to conduct both theoretical and practical classes. Their experience will undoubtedly be highly beneficial for teachers, students, and professionals. The University has prepared all the necessary conditions and facilities for the successful implementation of this program, including classrooms, educational spaces, technical resources, and organizational support.

Today, it is widely understood that tourism education must be closely aligned with labor market requirements. Students should acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills in customer service, professional communication, tourism product development, hotel management, gastronomic culture, and international hospitality standards. Without such an approach, it is impossible to prepare truly competitive professionals.

In this regard, the experience of Turkey and South Korea is particularly valuable. Turkey is recognized as one of the leading countries in tourism, hospitality, and gastronomy, while South Korea serves as an excellent example in the fields of technology, service, management, and human resource development. Combining these experiences can open new opportunities for the advancement of tourism education in Tajikistan.

The Director of the KOICA Office in Tajikistan, Mr. Kang Seung Hong (Ismail), Deputy Director of TIKA Ms. Oksana Joshkon, KOICA representative Professor Park Dong-su, and other TIKA representatives also addressed the participants. They expressed their satisfaction with the conditions created by the university administration for the training sessions and wished success to this international-level event.

It should be noted that the training sessions will continue for five days, and participants who successfully complete the program will receive certificates.
