VISIT OF THE AMBASSADORS OF TURKEY AND KOREA TO THE UNIVERSITY: STRENGTHENING INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN TOURISM EDUCATION

From May 11 to 16, 2026, the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan hosted practical training sessions and master classes entitled “Modern Approaches in Tourism Education” for faculty members and students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as employees of tourism-sector enterprises. The sessions were conducted by trainers from Turkey and the Republic of Korea.

The closing session of the training program and master classes was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Umut Acar; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Jeon Sung Sik; the Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Office in Tajikistan, Kang Seung Hong; and the Director of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Ibrahim Ethem Unal. The distinguished guests delivered remarks during the event.

It is noteworthy that the program was organized with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and at the initiative of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in cooperation with the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan. The initiative was aimed at developing international cooperation in tourism education, enhancing the qualifications of faculty members, and improving the professional skills of specialists in the tourism sector.

During the closing ceremony, Mirzohid Rahimov, First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, addressed the participants and warmly welcomed the guests on behalf of the University administration. In his speech, he emphasized that strengthening international cooperation is one of the University’s priority areas and that expanding relations with reputable international organizations and institutions is essential for training competitive professionals in the tourism industry.

It was also noted that organizing such training courses with the participation of experts and specialists from Turkey and the Republic of Korea provides valuable opportunities for experience exchange, learning modern teaching methods, and implementing advanced international practices in tourism education.

In their speeches, the ambassadors and heads of the TIKA and KOICA representative offices expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation with the University and reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding collaboration in the fields of education, human capacity development, and the implementation of joint projects.

The training program lasted for six days, during which participants became familiar with contemporary international practices in tourism education, service management, digital technologies in tourism, and innovative approaches to workforce development and training.

At the conclusion of the event, certificates of completion were awarded to the participants. The certificates were presented by the University leadership, ambassadors, and representatives of international organizations. The event concluded in an atmosphere of friendship, mutual understanding, and a shared commitment to strengthening international cooperation.
